The Tal Memorial Chess Festival was held in Moscow between the 5th and 19th of November 2006. Within its framework there was a round-robin super-tournament of category 20 and the Tal Cup blitz tournament.

Participants of the Super-Tournament:
Peter Svidler (RUS) 2750, Alexander Morozevich (RUS) 2747, Levon Aronian (ARM) 2741, Peter Leko (HUN) 2741, Boris Gelfand (ISR) 2733, Shakhriar Mamediarov (AZE) 2728, Alexei Shirov (ESP) 2720, Alexander Grishchuk (RUS) 2710, Ruslan Ponomariov (UKR) 2703, Magnus Carlsen (NOR) 2698

In the Tal Cup blitz tournament, which was held right after the classical chess contest, 18 Grandmasters, including especially invited Anatoly Karpov, Vishy Anand and Judit Polgar, took part.

Peter Leko, Ruslan Ponomariov and Levon Aronian shared first place in the Super Tournament and Vishy Anand won the Blitz Tournament.
