To honour Fidel Castro's 80th birthday a chess meeting was held at the Pina del Rio Pediatrical Hospital in Cuba.
Due to Fidel Castro's sudden illness, the thought prevailed that a children's hospital would be appropriate to hold a chess meeting knowing how much the President enjoys and promotes chess, the only game that can be played from a young age to any age making the human brain function on a harmonious level.

This idea of Nikolas Kouvakas and Chess.GR for the meeting was approved by the mayor, the provincial director, the director of the chess academy, and the hospital director as well. Without the support and warm welcoming of this idea from the part of the chess academy, dr. Guillerno Etchevaria and all hospital staff, this meeting wouldn't have been possible and successful. The prizes were donated by Nikolas Kouvakas.

The Players: Frank Miguel, Carlos Javier, Chander Verman Cardoso, Narlandy Gudin, Javier Ventura Aguiar, Duarky Corrales, Ramon Piney, Dionny Rodriguez, Juan Luis Hdez, Manuel Alejandro Morales
