Acropolis 2005
The International Tournament Acropolis 2005, organized by the Greek Chess Federation, was held between the 6th and 14th of March in Athens, Greece.

The winner of the GM tournament is Vugar Gashimov (AZE, 2585) who scored 6.5 points in 9 games. The 2nd position was tied since 10 players scored equal points (6.0/9) but according to tie-criteria, the final standings are as follows:2. Zviad Izoria (GEO, 2607), 3. Monika Socko (POL, 2441) is the winner of the WGM tournament for the second time in a row having scored 7.0 points in 9 games. Yelena Dembo (GRE, 2395) came 2nd scoring 6.5/9 and Cristina Adela Foisor (ROM, 2411) took the 3rd position scoring 6.0/9.
