The Indian FIDE World Champion 2000-2002 Viswanathan Anand (2755) will face the Ukrainian FIDE World Champion 2002 Ruslan Ponomariov (2743) in 8 games rapidchess (25 Min./game + 10 Sec./move - Tiebreak: 5 Min./Game + 5 Sec./Move ) in Chess Classic Mainz (from 14th to 18th August).

The games will be played as follows: Friday, 16th Round 1-3, Saturday, 17th Round 4-6, Sunday, 18th Round 7+8.

The Duel of the Graces, Kosteniuk - Paehtz 6.0-5.0 on tie breaks (4.0-4.0)

The 17 year old from Erfurt Elisabeth Paethz reached the last six during the previous world championship. In the 'Duel of the Graces' she will face 18 year old vice FIDE World Champion Alexandra Kostenjuk. The young Russian hit the headlines as the 'Anna Kurnikova of chess'.

This event will take place at the same time with the "Duel of the World Champions" in Chess Classic Mainz (from 14th to 18th August). The games will be played as follows: Friday, 16th Round 1-3, Saturday, 17th Round 4-6, Sunday, 18th Round 7+8.
