The glamour girl of the Chess world, 18 year old Alexandra Kosteniuk, runner-up
in the Women’s World Championship, who combines modelling with a formidable
chess talent, will do battle with the British chess prodigy – 11 year old
David Howell, who recently set a world record playing against World chess
champion, Vladimir Kramnik.
Alex and David will ‘do battle’ at Broadgate’s Exchange Square, in London,
Broadgate’s EXCHANGE SQUARE (full address: Exchange Square, Broadgate, London,
EC2), on Tuesday 13th of August 2002.
Press conference starts at 12:00. First blitz match starts at 12:30 midday.
The four ‘blitz’ matches each lasting 30 minutes (with a 15 minute break
between each) will require not only strength but also endurance, as the two
players will be playing with GIANT chess pieces.
Spectators are welcome at this open-air event. They can sit around the ‘Arena’,
British Land’s stunning showpiece development and get a magnificent view of
the proceedings. The event is free of charge.
