The European Team Championships 2001 took place in
Leon of Spain between 6th-15th of November 2001. Forty national teams
participated 38 mens teams and 32 women's. Some of the top players in the
world competed: Michael Adams, Vassily Ivanchuk, Eugene Bareev, Alexander
Morozevich, Alexander Khalifman, Boris Gelfand, Loek Van Wely and Alexey
Shirov.
