Let me invite you most cordially to 12th Chess Festival of Pardubice City. For those who have confidence in our organisation and would like to participate in other events, we prepared news - 1st Year of International Chess Tournaments Series CZECH TOUR 2001/2. Besides Chess Festival of Pardubice City CZECH OPEN there will be also rating tournaments in Olomouc, Znojmo, Pec pod Snezkou town, Marianske Lazne and Prague.

Advertised tournaments and right of participation in them:

A - open grand master tournament with rating for FIDE (participation of players with ELO FIDE 2200 min.)

B - open rating tournament with rating for FIDE (players with ELO FIDE or ELO national 1950 min.)

C - open performance tournament (players without ELO FIDE with ELO national 1700 min.)

D - open amateur tournament (players without any ELO or with ELO national 1949 max.)

E - open 4-member team tournament with rating for FIDE (players without age and performance limitation)

F - open 4-member team tournament of young players up to the age of 16 (players born in 1985 and younger regardless

ELO)

G - open active chess tournament (players without age and performance limitation)

H - blitz marathon (players without age and performance limitation)

I - blitz tournament (players without age and performance limitation)

Note: With players without ELO Czech seeding coefficients are used, that is M 2350 (women 2150), CM 2150 (2000), I. EC 1950 (1850), II. EC 1750 (1700), III. EC 1550, IV. EC 1350, without EC 1250.

 

System of tournaments:

A,B,C,D,G - Swiss system of 9 rounds

E,F - Swiss system of 7 rounds, teams are set according to average ELO of the first 4 players presented on the list, the team bears the name of the chess club which has more than half players as members or federation whose members are all players, on the list may be max. 6 players who have been arranged according to their approximate efficiency, if a deputy starts, individual chessboards are shifted. It is not permitted to change or complete the list during the contest

H - each with each, further possibly finals according to number of players

I -Swiss system of 11 rounds as the qualification, further proceeding up to the finals by k.o. system (more detailed system is presented at internet address and will be posted in the playing hall)

 

Criteria used for ranking:

A - 1. number of points, 2. average ELO of rivals, 3. Progressive score, 4. Buchholz, 5. lot

B,C,D,G,I (qualification) - 1.number of points, 2. Progressive score, 3. Buchholz, 4. average ELO of rivals, 5. lot

E,F - 1. total of points gained on individual chessboards (so called olympic system), 2. mutual match, 3. Progressive score, 4. Buchholz, 5. lot

H - 1. number of points, 2. number of wins 3. mutual match, 4. the best result reached against 1., 2. etc. player, 5. lot

Criteria for granting prizes: prizes in tournaments A,B,C,D,E,G,H are distributed according to Hort system (between the number of players corresponding to number of advertised prizes), prizes in I tournament and material prizes in C,D,F tournaments are not distributed.

 

Rating of tournaments:

A,B,C,D: 40 moves per 2 hours, further 20 moves per 1 hour and half an hour for each player to finish the game

E: 40 moves per 2 hours and half an hour for each player to finish the game

F,G: 30 minutes for a game and a player

H,I: 5 minutes for a game and a player (with the exception of elimination rounds in I tournament)

 

Tournament prize fund: 450.000 CZK altogether

Notice: prizes are awarded only during solemn close of the corresponding tournament

Financial prizes in CZK (payment in DEM or USD according to valid exchange rate possible, from prizes in excess of 10.000 20% tax will be deducted)

Special material prizes (in overall value of abt. 3.000 CZK):

C - 3 best women players, 3 best seniors (over 60 years of age) and 3 best young players (up to 14 years of age)

D - 3 best women players, 3 best seniors (over 60 years of age) and 3 best young players (up to 12 years of age)

Fusion of special and other prizes is in all tournaments admissible

Discounts: young players up to 18 years of age, seniors over 65 years of age and women players have in tournaments A,B,C,D,G,H,I 25% discount, these discounts do not refer to additional charge for late registration

Exceptions: The organizer reserves the right in exceptional cases to set a player whose ELO does not meet requirements of that particular tournament on his own request to the selected tournament, starting fee will be in this case with A tournament 300,- DEM, B 200,- DEM, C 100,- DEM, D 100,- DEM.

Late registrations: Those players (or teams) whose application will be registered after 15.6. 2001 will pay additional charge of 30,- DEM in A tournament, 20,- DEM in B,C,D,E tournaments and 5,- DEM in F,G,H tournaments

 

Membership in TOP CLUB CZECH OPEN

- anybody who participates in at least five CZECH OPEN chess festivals is becoming a member of TOP CLUB CZECH OPEN (by participation for this purpose is meant starting in some of the tournaments for individuals played at full rate

- conditions of drawing discounts in this year is participation in this year’s CZECH OPEN festival (by participation for this purpose is meant starting in some of the tournaments for individuals played at full rate)

-more detailed conditions and list of members and potential members will be found at our internet address and will be hung up in the playing hall

Advantages for members of TOP CLUB CZECH OPEN:

At the festival CZECH OPEN 2001:

a) 10% discount on corresponding starting fee in all Festival tournaments for individuals

b) purchase of 1 piece CZECH OPEN T-shirt at 25% discount

c) 50% discount in buying the daily bulletin

d) 25% discount on coach trips arranged by the organizer during the Festival

e) 50% discount on table tennis tournament

2. At other tournaments held within the ambit of Series CZECH TOUR 2001/2:

System of discounts in selected shops and facilities:

In selected shops and facilities participants of the Festival as well as their family members will obtain the discount coupon. The participant will cover the price of merchandise or services in full amount first and for every 100 CZK paid he/she will obtain coupons in value of 5 - 20 points (depending on what discount that particular facility is granting). These coupons can be used then for buying refreshments or advertising materials in playing premises of Ideon in value corresponding to ratio 1 point = 1 CZK. Among expected facilities are the new aqua park in vicinity of University dormitories Kavarna Evropa, McDonald΄s, restaurants, bars, shops with sports goods, archives of wines, etc. Participants will be given a more detailed list of facilities together with a map, discount amounts and other information during registration.

In year 2000 24 GM + WGM and 50 IM + WIM took part in A tournament. Average ELO of first 10 players was 2556, average ELO of the whole tournament was 2305. 14 IM and 1 WIM norms were achieved. Overall number of players, including accompanying tournaments, was 1707 players from 39 countries.
