GENERAL REGULATIONS

1. INVITATION

The Greek Chess Federation and the Chess Academy of Northern Greece, has the honor of inviting all European Chess Federations affiliated to FIDE, to participate in the European Youth Chess Championship 2000 in Kalithea of Halkidiki, located on Greece’s Mediterranean coast, 80 km south of Thessaloniki airport. This event shall be held from 1st October (arrival) to 11th October (departure).

2. PARTICIPATION

Each federation can enter one (1) player in each of the categories of under 10, 12,14,16 and 18 categories (boys and girls) as of January 1st, 2000. Additional players (according to FIDE rules), coaches and accompanying persons will be accepted.

Each invited person has to pay an organization fee of 100$(USD) according to FIDE Regulations. The invited persons have the right of free transportation from and to Thessaloniki airport.

3. REGISTRATION - CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION

    3. Enclosed complete registration must mention the family name, first
      names, ID number, FIDE rating and passport number of each player. Also it must includes the name and telephone/email/fax number of the Delegation chief.
    4. An identity photo 2x3 cm should be send for the badge of players, coaches and accompanying persons. Otherwise the photo can be taken on arrival (5$ USD).
    5. All payments must be made on arrival, otherwise the players will not be paired.
    6. In accordance with FIDE regulations a 100 SF entry fee is required for Each Player (200 SF for any additional player). This amount must be sent directly to FIDE by their National Federation.

 

4. ACCOMMODATION AND MEALS

    1. Board and lodging will be provided in luxurious G hotels Complex. All the people will stay in the same area without any transfers.
    2. Free board and lodging is offered to the invited players from Sunday, October 1 (dinner) to Wednesday, October 11(breakfast).
    1. Every participant accepted as an extra player will be obliged to lodge at G Hotels Complex.
    2. Payment for all additional players, coaches and accompanying persons must be made on arrival in G Hotels, in Greek Drachmas, in cash.
    3. Board and lodging for the additional players, coaches and Accompanying persons are as in the following table:
      Triple rooms: 14.000(about38$)GRD per person per day with full board.
      Double rooms: 16.000(about43$)GRD per person per day with full board.
      Single rooms: 22.000(about60$)GRD per person per day with full board.
    4. In order to avoid any problems with transports and hotels, all players (included invited players) delegates and accompanying persons must pay to the hosting hotel 100$ in advance. For the invited persons the 100$ are equal to the organizing fee (paragraph 2). By this way both hosting hotel and chess people confirm their reservations. The players and accompanying persons who will not pay this amount in advance will be accepted but without confirmation of their rooms.

After the payment in bank the Federations must fax the bank receipt and we will confirm the hotel reservation for these people.

5. TRAVEL COSTS

    1. All travel costs have to be paid by the Federations or the players.
    2. The invited players and coaches has the right of free transportation from and to Thessaloniki airport.
    3. Direct bus transportation is provided from Thessaloniki airport.
    4. For all the additional players, coaches and accompanying persons, the travel cost from Thessaloniki airport is 20$(one way) or 40$(double way).
    1. The Greek visa can be obtained at the Greek embassy of your country. The organizing committee will send the invitations to the Greek embassies by the official way.

      8. RULES AND REGULATIONS

      The tournaments will be played according to the Swiss System in 9 rounds. National ratings will not be taken into consideration for the pairings. Rate of play will be 40 moves in 2 hours + 1 hour for the remaining moves, for each player.

      11. INFORMATION

      Each federation is entitled to one free bulletin per round. Additional

      bulletins will be on sale. Before the tournaments, information and the

      list of players will be available on internet. During the tournaments,

      pairings and games will be available on the same site).

      12. PRIZES

      1. The first three players of each age group, will be awarded with trophies.
      2. For the champions there will be special awards by sponsors of games.
