:: Christodoulos Banikas Champion of Europe!

The Greek Champion Christodoulos Banikas (third place in the World Youth Championships of 1996, 1997 and 1998 and in the European Youth Championship of 1997 as well) came first in the European Rapid Chess Championship which is being held these days in Rhethymno, Crete.

Christodoulos Banikas (player of D.E.I.- G Hotels Chess Academy of Macedonia-Thrace) fought a week ago with remarkable success against chess players of worldwide reputation such as Adams, Ivanchuk, Sutovski in the European Club Cup in Chalkidiki.

Confirming his ascending march, he achieved to surpass top players such as Pelletier, Barsov, Volkov, Sakaev, Van Wely, and Movsesian, and to win the 1st place along with Movsesian, but with higher criteria, and become Champion of Europe with a performance of 2786!
