"My victory in Wijk aan Zee hasnít and never will change either Kramnikís or Anandís status, but it does support the status quo. Had I not won, all my potential claims for a rematch or for keeping a leading position in the chess world would have been not just shaken, but collapsed. Fortunately, this did not happen, and now it is clear that Kasparov has stayed in big chess.
