Κορυφώνεται το ενδιαφέρον στο φετινό Ίκαρο!
Ο Κεμπίσνκι “έκοψε” ταχύτητα με δύο ισοπαλίες στο 7ο και 8ο γύρο
Μετά τον 7ο και 8ο γύρο φαίνεται ότι ο Πολωνός Κεμπίσνκι “έκοψε”
ταχύτητα αφού περιορίστηκε σε δύο μάλλον γρήγορες ισοπαλίες με
αποτέλεσμα να τον πλησιάσουν αρκετά οι ανταγωνιστές του. Πολύ
σημαντική πέτυχε στον 8ο γύρο ο Αλεξάντερ Μίστα επί του Ρόμπερτ
Μάρκους πιάνοντας έτσι τον φίλο του Ρόμπερτ Κεμπίνσκι στην κορυφή
(οι δυο τους θα βρεθούν αντιμέτωποι στον τελευταίο γύρο). Σημαντική
και η νίκη, στον ίδιο γύρο, του Αντρέι Ριτσάγκοβ επί του Βλάντιμιρ
Τουκμάκοβ. Η νίκη αυτή έφερε το Ρώσο γκρανμαίτρ στην τρίτη θέση και
αντμέτωπο στον τελευταίο γύρο με τον φίλο του Ευγκένι Βορομπιόβ
(άλλο ένα "φιλικό" ματς :-)).
Στις γυναίκες εξαιρετική εμφάνιση κάνει η Γεωργιανή Ίνγκα
Χουρτσιλάβα μου κέρδισε τον Ολλανδό Ντάρμα Τγιάμ και έφτασε στους 6
βαθμούς αλλά και η Έλενα Λεβούσκινα που κέρδισε τον Ινδό Λαχίρι στον
ο γύρο και έκανε ισοπαλία με τον Ρώσο Σπίριν για να φτάσει κι αυτή
στους 6 βαθμούς! Από τους Έλληνες σκακιστές ο Γιώργος Νικολάου
συνέχισε την καλή του εμφάνιση με δύο ισοπαλίες στον 7ο και 8ο γυρο
εναντίον των διεθνών μαιτρ Ντάρμα Τγιάμ και Ρόμπερτ Ρις.
Το τουρνουά ολοκληρώνεται αύριο με τον 9ο γύρο που θα ξεκινήσει στις
3.00 μ.μ. Εκτός απο τα ζευγάρια της κορυφής Μίστα-Κεμπίνσκι και
Βορομπιόβ-Ριτσάγκοβ ενδιαφέρον παρουσιάζουν και οι συναντήσεις:
Μάρκους-Κλιπ, Μπόμπρας-Κέπκε, Τουκμάκοβ-Κετσουριάνι,
Ζαγκρεμπέλνι-Γκροτζ, Χουρτσιλάβα-Σπίριν και Λεβούσκινα-Λέκιτς.
Σήμερα το βράδυ οι συμμετέχοντες στο τουρνουά θα έχουν την ευκαιρία
για ένα μικρό διάλειμμα από τους αγώνες καθώς στον Άγιο Κήρυκο
διοργανώνεται το ετήσιο πανηγύρι της Αγίας Μαρίνας (αυτός είναι και
ο λόγος που ο σημερινός 8ος γύρος διεξήχθη το πρωί, καθώς τα
τραπέζια του τουρνουά ήταν απαραίτητα στο πανηγύρι).
Το φετινό σκακιστικό φεστιβάλ θα ολοκληρωθεί με την τελετή λήξης που
θα διεξαχθεί αμέσως μετά το τέλος του 9ου γύρου στο Κλειστό
Γυμναστήριο του Αγίου Κηρύκου με τη συμμετοχή τοπικών χορευτικών
συγκροτημάτων.

Rounds 7 and 8 - Kempinski slows down with two draws, shares
lead with his friend Alexander Mista!
After the 7th and 8th round it seems that Robert Kempinski has
slowed down a bit making two short draws. This resulted in his
adversaries coming closer to him. In the 8th round a very important
victory was achieved by Alexander Mista over Robert Markus. After
this victory Mista shares first place together with Kempinski. The
two friends will face each other at the ultimate 9th round.
Important victory also for Andrey Rychagov who beat Vladimir
Tukmakov. This victory brought the Russian grandmaster in the third
place. In the last round Rychagov will also face a friend, Evgeny
Vorobiov who drew with Kempinski.
Among women, Inga Khurtsilava from Georgia with his victory in the
8th round over the Dutch IM Dharma Tjiam and Helena Levushkina from
Germany who beat the Indian IM Atanu Lahiri in the 7th round and
drew against the Russian IM Oleg Spirin share the first plce with 6
points each!
Among the Greek players, Giorgos Nikolaou continued to perfmom well
achieving two more draws against two IMs: Dhrama Tjiam and Robert
Ris in the 7th and 8th round respectively.
The tournament comes to the end tomorrow with the 9th round that
will be played at 3.00 p.m. Apart from the top games Mista-Kempinski
and Vorobiov-Rychagov, there are several other interesting games:
Markus-Klip, Bobras-Koepke, Tukmakov-Khetsuriani, Zagrebelny-Groetz,
Khurtsilava-Spirin and Levushkina-Lekic.
This night however the participants of the tournament will have the
chance to come in touch with the Ikarian tradition (taste Ikarian
delicacies and wine and dancing the famous Ikariotikos dance) since
all are invited to the annual festival (“panigiri”) in honor of
Saint Marina and of the liberation of Ikaria from the Ottomans (on
the 17th of July 1912) taking place at Aghios Kirykos. This is te
reason why the 8th round was scheduled in the morning since all
tables from the tournament will be used for the “panigiri” of Saint
Marina!
The closing ceremony of Ikaros Chess Festival will take place at the
Sports Center of Aghios Kirykos after the completion of the 9th
round.
